Environmental Intelligence Across Aquaculture: A Look at Our Macroalgae Project in Tanzania
Every predictive insight we deliver is powered by people.
Behind every forecast, every data point, every oxygen alert, there is a team of 18 committed experts blending science and operational experience. Today, we are proud to introduce a new member who reinforces both our scientific depth and our strategic presence in Norway: Alexia Mouton.
Alexia is a fisheries and aquaculture engineer, recently graduated from AgroParisTech and L’Institut Agro Rennes-Angers. Throughout her academic journey, she focused on two core themes that define BiOceanOr’s mission: oceans and sustainability.
Her master thesis, “Balancing sustainability and growth: How effective is the governance of Norwegian salmon farming?”, provided valuable market insights into one of the world’s most advanced aquaculture systems. Supported during her internship by BiOceanOr, her research deepened our shared conviction: sustainable growth in aquaculture requires stronger governance, better information, and improved dialogue between stakeholders.
As Alexia highlights regarding the Norwegian Aquaculture White Paper (April 2025):
“While there is a consensus that the current system has not been successful in reaching growth and sustainability, stakeholders are cautiously optimistic about the proposals. To enhance governability, there is a need for more knowledge, more transparency, and better dialogue.”
Today, Alexia leads the international business development of BiOceanOr’s aquaculture services in Norway, working closely with salmon farmers and environmental authorities.
The Norwegian salmon farming industry is a pillar of the country’s coastal economy. Yet it faces increasing environmental pressures:
Our team provides AI-powered predictive services that anticipate these risks before they impact fish welfare and farm performance.
In coordination with our local partners, Alexia supports clients in adopting forecasting tools that predict variations in:
Our approach blends AI, oceanography, fish biology, and field expertise to transform environmental uncertainty into actionable foresight.
Alexia’s arrival reflects something deeper about BiOceanOr.
What makes us unique is that most of our team members are scientists and specialists who understand the biological, environmental, and operational realities of digitalized aquaculture.
Our team includes:
Together, we have built a team that blends science and practice capable of designing predictive tools that anticipate oxygen fluctuations, harmful algal blooms (HAB), and environmental stress before they affect fish health and farm performance.
We are always looking for talented experts.
Norway is a key market for BiOceanOr. By strengthening our local presence and working closely with salmon producers and regulators, we continue to advance toward:
Alexia’s arrival reinforces our commitment to responsible innovation.
